Idiot Wind

Monday, November 26, 2012

When I went to see First Aid Kit a few weeks ago, the opening act was Idiot Wind -- Swedish singer Amanda Bergman. Many openers I have seen are forgettable, but Bergman's voice was too lovely not to remember. I purchased her EP at the show, but it is available on Bandcamp. I quickly said hello and shook her hand, she was super sweet -- I'm looking forward to a full-length album, hopefully soon! If you are a fan of Bob Dylan, Cat Power, or The Tallest Man on Earth (her husband) then you will most definitely dig Idiot Wind. Good chill tunes for the cold and dark Scandinavian winter ahead...

Ain't No Road Too Long

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

It has been hard for me to keep focused on my research and writing while undergoing all the changes that have come along with moving to Denmark. I have been a bit down lately, feeling like I will never be able to accomplish it all. I am feeling pretty overwhelmed with all of the things we need to do to stay here, as well as the things I need to do to reach my long-term goals and dreams. In the "buffet" of life, I definitely have way too much on my plate! Though some days it is enough to make me want to hide under the covers, I am determined to keep going. In this spirit, I am reminded of the very wise words of Waylon Jennings and the gang from Sesame Street in a movie that was one of my all-time favorites as a child (and still is) -- Follow That Bird!

Don’t look back; don’t you turn around
Just keep your eye on where you’re bound
and you’re bound to get from here to there
‘cause a dream can take you anywhere!

Currently listening to... Trolley

Friday, October 28, 2011

Now that I don't have access to Netflix and Hulu, and it appears that my last salvation when it comes to watching American movies (my computer's DVD drive) has decided to stop working, I have started to listen to a lot more music than usual. This increased consumption of music has led me to look for new stuff to listen to. I have found a few good Danish bands, but sometimes you just crave the familiar, ya know? So, I was excited to hear that some old friends of mine in Milwaukee from the band Trolley just recently released a new album -- Things That Shine and Glow. Give it a whirl here and then hop on over to bandcamp to buy the digital download! Perfect for those who dig a Mod sound!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Gotye feat. Kimbra
Somebody That I Used to Know

I don't remember how I came across Gotye, but I had saved this video in my Vimeo favorites a few months back and I thought you might like it too. I am getting a Peter Gabriel vibe, no?
