In Denmark!

Monday, August 29, 2011

After eight long months of waiting, I am finally in Denmark! I arrived just a week ago, but we have been so busy getting our new place together that things have been sort of a blur! Before leaving the States I visited with my family and friends in Wisconsin. I am so happy I was able to, because I have no idea when I will have the chance to return. Being in Denmark (finally) is wonderful, but also a little bittersweet!

 Views from our apartment

Justin met me at the Billund airport last Monday morning after a long flight path through Chicago, New York, and Iceland. I decided it would be best to stay awake to get used to the local time and ward off jet lag. I can't honestly remember everything we did this past week but it included exploring Billund (the town the LEGO offices are in) and Vejle (the city where we are living), as well as a super long day at IKEA and trips to other stores to furnish our new home completely from scratch. I am having fun, but also feeling a little overwhelmed -- new language, new currency, new everything! Since my head is still spinning from all the change, I have decided that for this first month in Denmark I will be sharing Instagrams of our daily doings and seeings -- please enjoy!

Leaving on a Jet Plane (finally)

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Last week I finally got the go-ahead to leave for Denmark! I am so very excited! All of my paperwork is in order, Justin found an apartment (which I am sure is lovely) and my one-way plane ticket has been purchased! I depart on August 21st -- quite soon, really! My mind is in like complete over-drive trying to identify all the things I need to do to get packed up and ready in such a short time!

We had originally wanted to live in the same town that Justin's office is in, but we were unable to find somewhere that fit our needs. So, Justin found an apartment in a nearby city called Vejle -- which happens to be the 9th largest city in the country. He assures me I will love it, and after these nearly three years living in the rural Midwest (much to my displeasure) I am completely ready for a return to urban life!
