Kolding

Sunday, February 12, 2012

A few Instagrams from a quick trip to Kolding last Saturday. I walked around the city a bit, browsed a few shops, and visited a castle called Koldinghus...

This Day in 1915

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

My paternal grandfather was born November 15th, 1915. Although he has been gone for a few years now, I am always reminded of him -- his sense of humor, his dedication to his art, and his larger than life personality. I am truly blessed to have had his influence in my life and I will always miss him... no matter how many years pass by.

Fashion and History Collide - Stine Goya's “Le Ballon Imaginaire”

Wednesday, October 5, 2011

I came across Danish designer Stine Goya via Stine Nørgaard Lykkebo's Blogging Denmark piece. The article describes Goya's inspiration for her latest collection shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week as being inspired by Parisian hot air balloons -- a subject close to my heart as I worked with historic ballooning artifacts during my second stint at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in 2008. With their decadent and ornate pastels, gorgeous balloon imagery seems to never go out of style!
