Cleaning Out the Camera: Part Two - The Soft Side of Street Art

Friday, December 9, 2011

As a knitter, hopeful future crocheter, and fan of street art, I was delighted to see these bursts of yarny goodness while visiting my family back in August. The downtown area of Waukesha was always pretty average (not to mention, a little dreary) when we were growing up, so it was nice to see some cool stuff happening on my return visit.

I've lived quite a few places in my 27 years, but I have to say -- Wisconsin definitely has something charming goin' on.

Cleaning Out the Camera: Part One - A Milwaukee Alley

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

I recently remembered that I took a few pictures when I was in Wisconsin visiting family just before leaving the States in August. Not many but just enough to share, so I dug out the ol' point and shoot. These ones were taken while in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee with my little brother and his girlfriend (who is pictured). I just never seem to be able to get enough of urban alleyways... the bricks... the fire escapes...

Currently listening to... Trolley

Friday, October 28, 2011

Now that I don't have access to Netflix and Hulu, and it appears that my last salvation when it comes to watching American movies (my computer's DVD drive) has decided to stop working, I have started to listen to a lot more music than usual. This increased consumption of music has led me to look for new stuff to listen to. I have found a few good Danish bands, but sometimes you just crave the familiar, ya know? So, I was excited to hear that some old friends of mine in Milwaukee from the band Trolley just recently released a new album -- Things That Shine and Glow. Give it a whirl here and then hop on over to bandcamp to buy the digital download! Perfect for those who dig a Mod sound!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

In Denmark!

Monday, August 29, 2011

After eight long months of waiting, I am finally in Denmark! I arrived just a week ago, but we have been so busy getting our new place together that things have been sort of a blur! Before leaving the States I visited with my family and friends in Wisconsin. I am so happy I was able to, because I have no idea when I will have the chance to return. Being in Denmark (finally) is wonderful, but also a little bittersweet!

 Views from our apartment

Justin met me at the Billund airport last Monday morning after a long flight path through Chicago, New York, and Iceland. I decided it would be best to stay awake to get used to the local time and ward off jet lag. I can't honestly remember everything we did this past week but it included exploring Billund (the town the LEGO offices are in) and Vejle (the city where we are living), as well as a super long day at IKEA and trips to other stores to furnish our new home completely from scratch. I am having fun, but also feeling a little overwhelmed -- new language, new currency, new everything! Since my head is still spinning from all the change, I have decided that for this first month in Denmark I will be sharing Instagrams of our daily doings and seeings -- please enjoy!
