Pumpkins!
Have a great Halloween!
Now that I don't have access to Netflix and Hulu, and it appears that my last salvation when it comes to watching American movies (my computer's DVD drive) has decided to stop working, I have started to listen to a lot more music than usual. This increased consumption of music has led me to look for new stuff to listen to. I have found a few good Danish bands, but sometimes you just crave the familiar, ya know? So, I was excited to hear that some old friends of mine in Milwaukee from the band Trolley just recently released a new album -- Things That Shine and Glow. Give it a whirl here and then hop on over to bandcamp to buy the digital download! Perfect for those who dig a Mod sound!
My first car was a white 1992 Toyota Corolla. I loved that little thing. My grandparents bought it from their neighbor in Florida, and I was lucky enough to get it. Though it was already almost 10 years old by the time I got it, it was in quite good shape as it had only been driven to the grocery store once a week or so by their neighbor. Anyhow, the first week I had it, I opened up the glove compartment and out fell a small stack of pictures and postcards. The above picture was one that dropped out of the box.

Took a quick trip to Aarhus yesterday to buy some comic supplies from one of the few comic book stores in the area. Though I wasn't in Aarhus long, I was there long enough to decide that I really like it. Quite a beautiful city. Since I was on a specific mission, I only snapped a few photos. But as you can see, I was quite taken by the architecture of one of the churches there. Hopefully Justin and I will have a chance to go back soon!

Our apartment here in Denmark is still pretty bare, but coming along. Our larger furniture items and basics came from Ikea, and we are slowly filling in the space with vintage and other colorful thrifted finds. So far, we have found a lot of needlework pieces as you can see. Hopefully the next few months will yield a few more furniture pieces and perhaps a painting or two!

I came across Danish designer Stine Goya via Stine Nørgaard Lykkebo's Blogging Denmark piece. The article describes Goya's inspiration for her latest collection shown at Copenhagen Fashion Week as being inspired by Parisian hot air balloons -- a subject close to my heart as I worked with historic ballooning artifacts during my second stint at the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in 2008. With their decadent and ornate pastels, gorgeous balloon imagery seems to never go out of style!
