The Past Few Days...

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

...have pretty much looked something like this. Lots of writing and lots of editing! I am starting a new contract job soon, so I am trying to get a big chunk of the book that I have been writing for some time completed before things get completely crazy! I am so pumped to finish this thing!!! Definitely one of my major goals for 2012! What are some of your goals for the new year?

Brown and Blue

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Despite the multiple thrift shops in our area, it seems that they all primarily carry furniture and other home goods. Clothing (new or vintage) is hard to come by, so the other day when I found these two vintage dresses in great condition (and in my size) I had to jump! The blue dress totally reminds me of something a romance comic book character would wear! I also found a great orange vintage scarf, so that definitely came home with me to join the many other scarves in my collection! The boots are new too. They are quite comfy and just what I was looking for!

Saturday Brunch

Monday, December 19, 2011

I found a cute new place in town called Oda's and had brunch there on Saturday. The food situation in Denmark has turned out to be pretty disappointing -- most restaurants here are pretty blah or downright bad. Way too expensive for nothing special! Eating at home is by far the best choice and my cooking skills have definitely blossomed since being here. But, eating out once in a while is necessary, so I am glad I have another choice!

Two Years Ago

Monday, December 12, 2011

Today has been a day of reflection for me. Two years ago today, my mom passed away unexpectedly. Life of course has never been quite the same since, and the phrases you always just assumed were cliches beforehand suddenly become all too real... You really do learn to deeply appreciate the short time we have and live every moment to its fullest. Or try to at least.

Cleaning Out the Camera: Part Two - The Soft Side of Street Art

Friday, December 9, 2011

As a knitter, hopeful future crocheter, and fan of street art, I was delighted to see these bursts of yarny goodness while visiting my family back in August. The downtown area of Waukesha was always pretty average (not to mention, a little dreary) when we were growing up, so it was nice to see some cool stuff happening on my return visit.

I've lived quite a few places in my 27 years, but I have to say -- Wisconsin definitely has something charming goin' on.

Cleaning Out the Camera: Part One - A Milwaukee Alley

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

I recently remembered that I took a few pictures when I was in Wisconsin visiting family just before leaving the States in August. Not many but just enough to share, so I dug out the ol' point and shoot. These ones were taken while in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee with my little brother and his girlfriend (who is pictured). I just never seem to be able to get enough of urban alleyways... the bricks... the fire escapes...
